Is Godot an eligible engine for the hackathon?
Hello.
While I'm typically an Unreal developer, I've really enjoyed using Godot lately. And they have put a lot of work into OpenXR compatibility. But the rules for this hackathon specifically call out the technology that we may use, and Godot is not listed.
May we use Godot for this hackathon if we choose? Will we be penalized if we do?
Thanks!

If you consider Meta's goals with this competition, part of it is encouraging more VR development. Opening the doors to more platforms to build VR applications with is a win for Meta so if anything projects built on Godot and not just Unity/Unreal have an extra layer of value for Meta. At least that's where my business mindset goes with it.

Thank you for reaching out! Discussed this with the team and we have added the following to the FAQ :D
Can I use a development engine other than Unity, Unreal, Spatial SDK, IWSDK, React Native, or Android?
Yes, you may use other development engines including Godot or custom engines. This will not impact your prize eligibility. Please note that specific awards do require specific engine use (e.g., Best Experience Built with Spatial SDK). You can review the Rules for more details.
